The Olota of Ota, His Majesty Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, has expressed support for a major campaign against drug abuse and substance misuse organised by Praise Baptist Church, Sango-Ota.
The campaign, led by the church's spiritual leader, Rev. Dr. Israel Olusegun Ayuba, was held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, and attracted a large gathering, particularly young people.
Participants were received at the Ipeti Royal Square in the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, by the Olota.
Speaking during the programme, the monarch reaffirmed the Palace's opposition to drug abuse, illicit drug trafficking and substance misuse, while calling for stronger collaboration among traditional institutions, religious organisations, government agencies and communities.
The Olota also reiterated his directive that security agencies should have unhindered access to all parts of the Kingdom while carrying out their lawful responsibilities, particularly in efforts to combat the distribution and trafficking of illicit drugs.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Otta Area Command, also participated in the campaign.
The monarch urged young people to stay away from drugs and other unlawful activities, describing youths as the hope and future of society.
The Palace also welcomed the establishment of a rehabilitation centre by Praise Baptist Church as part of efforts to support people affected by drug abuse and substance misuse.
The campaign ended with a strong message to the community:
SAY NO TO DRUGS.
PROTECT OUR YOUTH. PROTECT OUR FUTURE.
