Ogun West NUJ Independent Chapel Engages LarryBash on Media, Politics and Democratic Accountability

The Ogun West Independent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has engaged High Chief Olanrewaju Bashorun, popularly known as LarryBash, during a courtesy visit to his campaign secretariat.

The meeting, held on Monday evening, focused on the relationship between the media and political stakeholders, with discussions centred on journalism, democratic participation, transparency and accountability.

LarryBash, who is the APC candidate for the Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, spoke about his political vision and the importance of constructive engagement between politicians and the media. Recent reports have also documented his grassroots political activities in the constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.

During the engagement, emphasis was placed on the role of journalism in providing citizens with information and creating platforms through which public officials and political actors can be held accountable.

The NUJ delegation also formally invited LarryBash to the forthcoming inauguration ceremony of the newly constituted executive of the Ogun West Independent Chapel.

The new executive is led by Comrade Olatunji Egbewunmi as Chairman, with Comrade Gbenga Fashina as Secretary and Comrade Sunday Adeyemi as Treasurer.

The visit formed part of the chapel's stakeholder engagement as the new executive begins its tenure.

The engagement ended with both sides acknowledging the importance of continued dialogue between journalists and political stakeholders, particularly in promoting informed public participation and democratic accountability in Ogun West.

The interaction comes amid increasing political activities across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 elections, with candidates and political groups stepping up grassroots engagements across the state.
