SO-SAFE CORPS SMASHES DIESEL THEFT SYNDICATE IN ILARO, ARRESTS THREE SUSPECTS



Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the theft and illegal purchase of diesel meant for a road construction project along Sokoto Road, Idogo, in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area.

According to the Corps, the operation followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance after reports emerged that diesel allocated for the road project was being diverted and sold to a criminal network.

Acting on credible intelligence, officers laid an ambush and intercepted the suspects after a dramatic chase. Their vehicle reportedly suffered a tyre burst while attempting to escape, leading to their arrest.

Suspects Arrested: 
1. Gbolahan Ayobami (27) – Grader operato
2. Adedamola Ayomide (29) – Driver
3. Ajibose Ayobami (20) – Loader

The suspects allegedly confessed to carrying out the illegal operation several times within the past month.

The Items Recovered: One Mazda vehicle (JJJ 913 GX)
 17 gallons of diesel (30 litres each)
The case has been transferred to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ilaro Area Command, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reiterated the agency's commitment to protecting public resources and combating economic sabotage across Ogun State.
