Members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Ogun State have joined the nationwide "Bring Back Our Teachers/Pupils" protest, calling for the immediate rescue and safe return of teachers and schoolchildren abducted in Oyo State.
The peaceful demonstration, held in Abeokuta, saw teachers, civil society groups, and concerned residents marching with placards demanding stronger security measures in schools and communities. Protesters urged government authorities and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of the victims and tackle the growing threat of insecurity affecting the education sector.
The union stressed that schools must remain safe environments for teaching and learning, warning that continued attacks on educational institutions could discourage parents from sending their children to school.
Participants also called for improved protection for teachers and pupils across the country, insisting that every child deserves access to education without fear.
