OGUN POLICE ARREST MAN OVER VIRAL FAKE KIDNAP VIDEO

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Johnson Elleh for allegedly creating and circulating a false video claiming that kidnappers and bandits were operating along the Owode–Idiroko axis.

According to police authorities, investigations revealed that the viral video was misleading and did not reflect any actual kidnapping or banditry incident in the area. The Command stated that the content was deliberately designed to create fear and panic among residents.

Detectives later identified and arrested Elleh, who was reportedly featured in the video. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect created the content to attract attention and boost engagement on social media.

Police said the suspect has confessed to his involvement and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Command warned against the spread of fake news and false security alerts, stressing that misinformation can threaten public peace and attract legal consequences.

Residents have been advised to verify security-related information through official channels and continue their daily activities without fear, as Ogun State remains safe and secure.
