Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command attached to Ifo and Sango Divisions have arrested two suspected armed robbers linked to a vehicle-snatching syndicate operating within Ogun State and beyond.
The suspects, identified as Mohammed Adeniyi Usman popularly known as “Mandela,” and Abiodun Ogunojukan alias “Ilasa,” were arrested during separate intelligence-led operations in Ota and Sango-Ota.
According to the police, detectives stormed a criminal hideout in Adeleye Area, Itele, Ota, on May 9, 2026, following credible intelligence about stolen vehicles being hidden in the area. Officers reportedly laid ambush at the location and later arrested one of the suspects.
Recovered from the hideout were: • A Toyota Corolla
• A Toyota Venza allegedly stolen at gunpoint in Abeokuta
• A Honda Crosstour reportedly snatched during another robbery operation in Ijoko, Ota
• Two live cartridges and foreign currencies
Further operations carried out under the Sango-Ota bridge on May 10 led to the arrest of the second suspect, who reportedly confessed and provided useful information to investigators.
The Ogun State Police Command said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCIID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime across Ogun State.
