Fresh legal challenges have emerged against Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as “Yayi”, as two separate suits currently before the Federal High Courts in Abuja and Abeokuta seek to question his eligibility ahead of the Ogun State governorship race.
The cases reportedly focus on alleged discrepancies in documents and personal details submitted to INEC over the years, with plaintiffs calling for a thorough verification of records linked to the senator.
In the Abuja suit (FHC/ABJ/CS/984/2026), political stakeholders across Ogun State are demanding certified copies of forms submitted by Adeola to INEC between 2003 and 2023, citing concerns over inconsistencies in identity records and declarations.
A separate suit filed in Abeokuta (FHC/CS/AB/87/2026) by Professor Awolola Awofala Awoniyi is also seeking access to official records for verification purposes.
Among the reliefs being sought are: • Possible disqualification from the governorship race
• An injunction restraining APC and INEC from endorsing or listing him
• Investigation by the Inspector General of Police
• Financial damages and legal costs
Observers say the outcome of the court cases could have a major impact on the political landscape ahead of the Ogun 2027 governorship election.
