Woman Alleges Police Arresting Traders Selling Sachet Alcohol in Sango-Ota Amid Ongoing Crackdown

A woman has alleged that she was arrested by police while opening her shop in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State over the sale of sachet alcoholic drinks.

According to her account in a viral video, officers arrived at her shop, confiscated some of her goods and took her to the police station. She claimed she was later released after paying money to secure her freedom.

The woman also alleged that several other traders selling sachet alcoholic beverages were arrested in the area, with some reportedly taken to the Obasanjo Police Station in Ota. She further claimed that one of her friends paid ₦310,000 to regain her freedom.

She appealed to fellow traders to stop stocking or selling sachet alcoholic drinks, warning that security agencies are enforcing the ongoing crackdown.

It is important to note that Ota Gossip has not independently verified the claims made in the video. However, NAFDAC recently began nationwide enforcement against the production, distribution and sale of banned sachet alcoholic drinks and alcoholic beverages in PET bottles below 200ml.
