Ogun Assembly reconstitutes 22 standing committees

The Ogun State House of Assembly on Friday reconstituted its twenty-two standing Committees.
The constitution of the committees followed the presentation of the report of the ad-hoc committee by the deputy Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, who also moved the motion for its adoption.

The motion was seconded by Akinpelu Aina and supported by the whole House through a voice vote at the plenary presided over by Speaker Suraj Adekunbi.

The new House standing Committees are: Olusola Bankole is the Chairman of Works and Infrastructure Committee, while Mojeed Soyebo heads theTransport Committee, just as Victor Fasanya is in charge of Finance and Appropriation, while Committee on Health has Israel Jolaoso as Chairman just as Education Science and Technology is headed by Olayiwola Ojodu.

The report added that Ganiyu is in charge of Agriculture and Forestry, Tunde Sanusi takes charge of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Affairs, with Julianah Akintayo heading Women Affairs and Social Development, while Bowale Solaja leads Environment Committee, while, Adeyemi Harrison is in charge of Youth, Sports and Employment Generation.

Other committee chairmen are: Yetunde Sogbein-Adekanbi in charge of Lands and Housing, Aina Akinpelu heads Information, Culture, and Tourism, while Oyenuga Olufowobi is in charge of Commerce, Investment and Industries, Olujimi Otukoya to heads Oil, Gas, Energy, Water Resources and Rural Development while Oludare Kadiri takes charge of Special Duties.

The rest are Rasaq Oduntan in charge of Public Accounts and Anti-corruption, just as Olusola Sonuga is in charge of House Services, while Viwanu Ojo heads Establishments and Public Service matters, with Adebowale Ojuri heading Justice, Ethics and Public Petitions, while, Adebiyi Adeleye takes charge of Cooperatives and Community Development Committee.

The report concluded that the Speaker remained the Chairman of the selection committee as well as a committee on Rules, Bills, and Resolutions with his Deputy, Olakunle Oluomo as Vice-Chairman.

OLOFIN OF ADO-ODO PALACE CLARIFIES LADI ADEBUTU’S VISIT TO OLOTA, SAYS MEETING DID NOT REPRESENT ALL AWORI OBAS The Palace of the Olofin Adimula of Ado-Odo has clarified the recent visit of the PDP Governorship Candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, to the Palace of the Olota of Ota, reportedly in connection with an “Awori Obas Forum.” In a statement signed by Chief Kazeem Akinsola Nasir, Ìríjú Oba of Ado-Odo and Secretary to the Palace, the palace said the gathering should not be interpreted as representing all Awori traditional rulers in Ogun State. SO-SAFE CORPS SMASHES DIESEL THEFT SYNDICATE IN ILARO, ARRESTS THREE SUSPECTS

Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the theft and illegal purchase of diesel meant for a road construction project along Sokoto Road, Idogo, in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area. According to the Corps, the operation followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance after reports emerged that diesel allocated for the road project was being diverted and sold to a criminal network. Acting on credible intelligence, officers laid an ambush and intercepted the suspects after a dramatic chase.
