OLOFIN OF ADO-ODO PALACE CLARIFIES LADI ADEBUTU’S VISIT TO OLOTA, SAYS MEETING DID NOT REPRESENT ALL AWORI OBAS The Palace of the Olofin Adimula of Ado-Odo has clarified the recent visit of the PDP Governorship Candidate, Hon. Ladi Adebutu, to the Palace of the Olota of Ota, reportedly in connection with an “Awori Obas Forum.” In a statement signed by Chief Kazeem Akinsola Nasir, Ìríjú Oba of Ado-Odo and Secretary to the Palace, the palace said the gathering should not be interpreted as representing all Awori traditional rulers in Ogun State. The statement noted that while Ota remains an important Awori town, the gathering appeared to involve traditional rulers mainly from the Ota and Igbesa axis. The Palace further stated that there is currently no legally recognised Awori Traditional Council or Awori Council of Obas in Ogun State with statutory authority to speak on behalf of all Awori monarchs across the state. HON OKIKIOLA OLUDEGUN VISITS OLOTA, TO BE CONFERRED AS AKINSIKU OF OTTA

 The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, Ogun State, Hon. Okikiola Oludegun, has paid a courtesy visit to the Olota of Otta, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, at the Olota’s Palace. Oludegun, accompanied by family members, political associates and supporters, said the visit was to seek the monarch’s royal blessings and update him on his consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections. He pledged to provide effective and responsible representation for the people of Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency if elected. The Olota welcomed the delegation, commended the family for supporting their son and prayed for their success. POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTED CARJACKERS IN ATAN - OTA OGUN STATE, RECOVER 3 PISTOLS

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a carjacking syndicate allegedly operating around Ota, Iju, Baba-Ode and Atan . The suspects, identified as Adeyinka Onakomaya, 46, and Olayiwola Kehinde, 48 , were arrested during follow-up investigations into a stolen Toyota Matrix recovered in April 2026. Police said three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges were recovered from the suspects. According to the Command, preliminary investigations linked the suspects to several armed robbery and vehicle-snatching operations in the area. OGUN DECLARES THURSDAY, AUGUST 20, PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR ISESE DAY

The Ogun State Government has declared Thursday, August 20, 2026, a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Isese Day celebration. The government said the declaration reflects its commitment to preserving and promoting Yoruba culture, heritage and traditional values. Isese Day provides an opportunity for adherents of the Yoruba traditional religion to honour their ancestors, observe traditional rites and celebrate the cultural values passed down through generations. Ogun CP Calls for Religious Tolerance, Unity at St. Martin’s Police Catholic Church

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has called for greater religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, describing mutual respect as essential to achieving lasting peace and security. CP Ojajuni made the call on Sunday, August 9, 2026, while joining Catholic faithful, senior police officers and members of the Nigeria Police Force at St. Martin’s Police Catholic Church, Ogun State, for a series of religious ceremonies. The event was presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Abeokuta Diocese, Most Rev.
